Design Highlights

The BFD-10 freeze dryer has the similar technical features and system performance as the commercial larger units such as the PLC based controller, temperature controlled shelves, pressure control, FDA and cGLP compliant. Which enable it fits a wide array of freeze drying applications from laboratory investigation to small diagnostics production. Versatile to handle recipes development, processes optimization and clinical trials, as an intermediate for cycle transfer to manufacturing scale.

2-Chamber System

Drying chamber and ice condenser are separate, connected by a spool piece and an isolation valve can be installed between to perform pressure rise test. The drying chamber is rectangular shape that offers maximum space using rate, and the ice condenser is cylindrical shape for easy defrost and water drain.

High Efficiency Shelves Heating and Cooling

Shelves in BFD-10 system are always temperature controlled: heat transfer fluid circulates inside sandwich type heat-plates for product pre-freeze and later heating for sublimation. The shelves are cooled through a brazed plate heat exchanger and heated by an electric bar. PID control and heating/cooling rate >1C/Min which is same as the production freeze dryers, ideal for R&D activities.

Precise Temperature Control

The heat transfer fluid based shelf system guarantees uniform temperature of all heat-plates, an additional heat-plate is installed on top of shelf module to provide extra energy for thermal balance. Temperature sensors have been installed in both the fluid inlet and return pipe, as well as the fluid heating bar point, to control and monitor shelves temperature. Temperature variance between heat-plates and plate points are less than +/-1C.
